Principal's Message
On behalf of our school community, I would like to welcome you to the Grove Education Centre.
The Grove is a reception to year 12 school and is located in Woodville, South Australia. We provide personalised and inclusive learning programs for children and young people with an intellectual disability. Each child has a One Plan with explicit learning goals.
The dedication and wisdom of our staff is reflected in our school values: Professional Integrity, Evidence Based, Collaborative and Respectful. We provide consistent, high quality classroom practice. This is supported by professional development and the guidance of our Communication and Literacy coach. We focus on the continuous building of high quality practice to deliver on our whole school commitments.
Our mission is to work with students, families and our community to prepare every student for optimal post-school pathways. This also supports our motto, ‘Partners in Learning’. At The Grove, we encourage families and carers to be involved in their child’s learning.
Our vision is to be at the forefront of special education. We want our students to be fully engaged in their learning and focused on a future ripe with unlimited possibilities. Our positive behaviour code, designed to support our students to regulate their own behaviour, is summarised in ‘The Grove Five’: I am respectful, I am responsible, I am safe, I am friendly, and I have feelings.
We believe that every individual with complex communication needs is entitled to both electronic and non-electronic augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to give them a voice in all environments. Our staff are highly effective communication partners.
I am privileged to lead an inspiring school community and am committed to making a meaningful contribution to improve access, inclusion and equity for neurodiverse children and young people.
Please contact us if you would like a school tour.
